(Witness) History1914"George Fahler was born December 25, 1800, near Hecktown. He worked on the farm until he was grown up, when he learned the shoemaking trade with Mr.Wasser, who lived along the east bank of the Lehigh, and he carried on the shoemaking trade for fifty years in North Whitehall township. He lived on a small tract of land owned later by Edwin Breining. This he conducted with his shoemaking. He died in 1871, and is buried at the Egypt Church. He was married to Elizabeth Mickley, a daughter of Peter Mickley, born 1772, died 1861, and his wife Salome Biery, who was born in Longswamp township in 1772, and died in 1868. Mrs. Fahler was born October2, 1805, and died in 1845. They were the parents of thirteen children, nearly all of whom are now deceased: William, Robert, George, Eliza, Louisa married to Henry Laudenslager; Polly, married to Walter Miller; James; Hattie, married to John Anewalt; Sallie, married to Henry Trumbauer; Harry and Hannah."

(Witness) HistoryGeorge was a shoemaker for many years, also on Third St. He would never spend money for car fare to Allentown when he needed to buy leather. He always walked to town and back again when he was way over 90 yrs of age.1

James Fahler

(Witness) HistoryHe was a blacksmith and had a shop on pine Street in Catasauqua. He retired at the age of 80 yrs. and was quite a good living man. He was one of the founders of the United Ev. Lutheran Church on Walnut St. in Cqa. He taught the German Bible class for over 50 yrs. and lived at 735 third St. until his death in 1923.1 
(Witness) History1914James Fahler, of Catasauqua, was born in North Whitehall township July 2, 1836. He learned the blacksmith trade when sixteen years of age, and has followed it ever since, a period of sixty years. Since 1884 he resides at 735 Third street, Catasauqua. He and family are members of the United Evangelical Church. He severed as treasurer of the Sunday School for twelve years, and as trustee of the church for many-years. In 1855 he married to Susanna Dreisbach, a daughter of Jacob and Magdalena (Bleim Dreisbach, of Allen township. She was born July 4, 1825 and died May 30, 1902. They had children as follows: Alvesta, married to Eugene Brader. Mr. Brader was accidentally caught in the cogwheels of a flour mill at Tamaqua. Issue: Mabel; Flossie, deceased; Winifred F., married to A.K. Mertz; Francis J., blacksmith, of Catasauqua, married to Hanna Francis; issue, Eva, Hattie; Verna and Thomas J., deceased; Mary M., married to Preston Weaver; issue, Edwin, Carrie, Mabel, Charles, Mary, Ralph and Marian.
